    In the middle is better for control. You want the leeboard to resist wind drift without creating a turning force. If the board is too far forward or back your trolling motor will not be able to overcome the wind and keel combination turning force.

    Set it up so you can move the keel board mounting point fore and aft until you find the balance point where the wind does the least turning of your boat.
