Whisstock Naja 30

Anyone any information on the Naja 30ft cruiser/racer kit produced by Whisstock in the 1980's, or on the current evolution of this design (#17 in Whisstocks current designs book). I'd like to find out how many were built and where and anyone's experience of building/owning/sailing one.
Thanks Eric Irvine

Eric,

I currently own Whisstock Naja 30 and I am the only one that I know of in the San Francisco Bay Area, California. It was completed in 1990 and they are still in great shape. I bought this from the original builder/owner 3 months ago and had been very happy about my ownership of this unique boat. I made numerous upgrades for some serious cruising. Do you know more about this boat? I tried to search the net and there is not much known about this boat. I look forward to hear from you.
Rolando

Whisstock Naja 30

Archive - have you tried:
www.whisstock.com/frameset_boats
As Awallis says, I believe that the original Whisstock company has been 'swallowed' by a bigger combo. But the above seem to have kept their - forgive the play on words - 'archives'.
For years I owned and sailed one of Whisstock's 'Deben' class sloops.'Snafu' - built 1948 - a 4.5 tonner - she was a dream to sail. Twice winner of the Hebrides Inter-Island (Three day/night) Three Peaks Race. Great builders (Rolls Royce of boats). You are a lucky man/woman (mustn't be sexist)

My factory - and come to think of it, my house - are less than 1/2 a mile from the old Whisstocks Yard in Woodbridge, Suffolk. The site has been sold off for development (prime waterfront development apartments) but all of the buildings are still there and in good order. I'll take some pics when I'm passing there next if you like....

Dear both - I too have a Naja and have just had a full year of excellent sailing - I may be able to get hold of the original sales brochure and have a couple of reviews of the boat - in 1978 - 1980. However if you have any other information I would be very grateful.

Naja 9m

Hello,

J'ai construit un NAJA 9M à partir d'un kit Whisstock en 1980=>1982.

Il est actuellement en France sur le Lac du Der.

Pour information, je n'ai rencontré que 2 NAJA en 25 ans : un à l'aber benoit (france finistère) en 1986 et un autre en Corse (à cervione) en 2006.

Ciao.

Philippe

Just to be nice, this is an old thread and we have to treasure it:

Hello,

I built a NAJA 9M from a Whisstock kit in 1980=>1982.

It is currently in France on the Lake of Der. For your information, I have met only 2 NAJA in 25 years: one on the river Mouth Benoit (France finistère) in 1986 and another in Corsica (cervione) in 2006.

Ciao,

Philippe
