| What glue I'm looking for name brands and numbers. I am building a wooden boat from Glen-L (zip to be exact). I have no experience here so when I read "plastic resin, resorcinol, epoxy, or other equivalent type" for all wood to wood joints, I have no idea what they are talking about. If I had some brand names and what products I should be looking at, I could make a choice from there. Thanks for the help. Jesse

| one-part glues are more convenient than mxing epoxy but epoxy is hard to beat. gorilla glue and polyurethanes are reported to be waterproof. |

| I assume you are not an experienced boatbuilder. This comment is because Resorcinol needs a tight very accurate joint with high pressure during cure. Thickened epoxy is very forgiving and fills gaps. Gorilla glue, because it foams up, will fill gaps too. However it is quite expensive. Its advantage over epoxy is that it comes in a bottle and doesn't need to be mixed and measured precisely. Polyurethanes, like Sika or 3M 5200, come in tubes and will fill gaps. They are expensive and the glued joint is flexible. Several manufacturers sell epoxy. I recomend West and System Three. Their quality is excellent and, more valuable than anything, have a great tech service. |

| Thanks for the input. It helps quite a bit. You are correct in saying I am not an experienced boat builder. I've never done this before. In fact I've never even owned a boat before But it makes an excellent distraction from my day job, I'll have learned a lot, have something I can be proud of once I am done and have something fun to use.
