Transom Scantling

I'm design a 16 ft fiberglass boat but I cant find any information anywhere on Scantling rules for building a strong transom for an outboard engine. The transom is 42 in wide, the max outboard rating would be 40 HP. Does anyone know of any links to go to?
Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

The outboards, regardless of horsepower, are designed for a transom of aproximately 3/4". The usual construction is with two layers of 3/4" plywood covered in fiberglass. I/O's are designed assuming the same transom thickness.

Transom Thickness

thank you for your response but I am still a bit confused on the final thickness. Is the final thickness (3/4+3/4= 1.5"thick + FRP) or layers of plywood adding up to a final thickness of 3/4. What about the fibrglass? Sould it be as thick as the bottom or the Basic Shell thickness ?

Thanks

Sorry about the mlsprint. The final thickness is about 1 3/4". Laminate the inside with two layers of .75oz mat or one of 1708 stich mat. On the outside the laminate should be equal to the sides.
