To Save or not to save that is the question.

My husband recently bought a house boat that is in really bad repair. I think it will be fun as a family project but I'm not sure we're in over our heads. The roof is rotten and the deck is rotten The hull looks fairly good meaning I don't see any obvious holes or crack. I just don't know where to begin with this thing or if it can be saved at all. It's a 32' Yukon delta with a 190 h.p. volvo engine. I'm guessing the engine is not the original as it takes up almost the entire back of the boat. I have tried to find information on Yukon Delta without much success. The boat was built about 1980's. I need some good advice or some good research material. My husband and I both fell in love with boating but we are new at it. The kids are more excited than we are when it comes to fixing our boat. I think if we start out on the right track, this could be a lot of fun. I hope you can help.

More people are having same kind of questions.

Look at Question for you experts... perhaps you can learn from each others experiences.

It almost never pays financially to do this sort of thing. If you enjoy boatbuilding it can be a hobby in itself but if your are interested in boating you can find a used boat in good condition for less then the cost of rebuilding one in poor condition. Add to this, if you don’t have enough experience to look at this job and get some sort of feel for how big a job it is then you might want to start out with a smaller project to get your feet wet so to speak, and then you can consider moving up to larger projects with some degree of comfort.
Good luck and keep at it,
