Primed!

I can't believe I have arrived at the finish stage of this project. To me this is the most tedious and important part of the build. All the painstaking joinery will be for nothing if the painting is mediocre. I still have to build the daggerboard, rudder and mast. So I guess that I still have a long way to go! Thanks everybody, for your encouragement along the way. Please keep it up!

First class step-ladder you've built flydog - but why not have it in the foreground rather than that ugly looking planter box.

Right on Flydog!

Looking better all the time.

She sure looks like she'll take to the water nice.

It's funny, but we come out of the water at birth, whereas a boat goes in.

Or, like most members of this forum, we come out of the water at birth, and spend the rest of our lives trying to get back in!

Trev,

I think its a mutual attraction. The "draw of the sea". For the last three years I've been in southwest PA, at least 200+ miles from the Chesepeake Bay. Taking care of an elderly & ill mother has taken priority over pursuing my previous, somewhat wayfaring ways. The sea has a persistent and deep seated draw on me though, and if not dead, I'll be there again.

For now its canoeing or sea kayaking the local river or reservoirs.

Bergalia,

Think I've heard similar. Yep.

Yeah Tim, know what you mean and sympathise with your current position.

My great granddad was a Thames bargeman, my granddad worked on a whale boat; dad built a cabin cruiser and my brother, a 64ft Ferro cement sailboat. I’ve just started building a self-designed 26ft sailing cat and am already planning a circumnavigation. Sea water just kinda runs in your veins, doesn’t it! I get a definite lift anytime I see or am near water – weird, but a really strong attraction that just keeps you driving forward towards your goal.

Take care!

‘Course she did – kept the family sanity together with love and taught me lessons I still adhere to to-day – like “Lady’s first – except up a ladder!”

But hey! We are hogging Flydog’s original post. That sure is a pretty boat and shows a lot of dedication. Well done Flydog! Don’t forget to keep us posted and invite us to the launch party.

Of course flydog - It really is a splendid piece of work and a credit to your dedication and skill.
Trust you knew I was only kidding about the 'planter box'...(Now what the hell do I do with all these seedlings....)
