putting a mercruiser on a pontoon

Hope I'm in the right place here.
I have a junk boat with a good Mercruiser, thinking of trying to put it on a pontoon, thinking about 24 foot.
Wondering about balance and mounting the motor.
I have access to an aluminum welder so that shouldn't be a problem.
Greatly appreciate any info anyone has

Hi Fred!
Been there! Did that!
Don't!!!!
Unless you know how to build a third center pontoon, and allow for cooling, you will get into trouble, fire wise. The Merc seems to be a great idea, but stearage is also a problem. The weight (if it's a V8) will throw the bow up and pontoons don't plan!
Sell the Merc set up and buy two o/b's. a 24 Foot pontoon can run fine on two 30's or 50's, but more than that you are just wasting fuel! It's a familey boat! Want speed buy a Cig!
