    Boat Cradle

The forecast held true, sunny and warm which i took complete advantage of and laid on the first coat of zinc. Calling for the same but warmer weather tomorrow which will give me opportunity to apply the second coat. I thought i would point out a very important aspect of this job. I use nothing but the best in materials. If you look carefully on the second photo you will see BETHLEHEM U.S.A. stamped on that there I beam. This is not just any run of the mill Boat Cart, this is the Artist Proof Collectors Edition :D

    No he didn't. That's a 1950's myth.
He said, as velocity approaches speed of light, mass approaches infinity.

An antique reaction mass rocket from the 50's would have no or little effect on near infinite mass.
So folks back then concluded it was impossible. Erroneously.

A gravitational drive would become even more powerful and accelerate faster!
Gravity is a function of mass.

Speaking of time warps, I don't know if it's old age or the 60's drugs but a friend of mine dropped by last evening and informed me of that very same info on Bethlehem Steel. I didn't recall their demise so went to investigate. It wasn't a sudden Studebaker type death episode it was more the sneaky ending of a thousand cuts. Bought out --Broken Up--- and Sold off. A most unglorified ending to a once shining member of the Industrialized Heart Land. Especially sad because they were boat builders to boot. Well it certainly seems appropriate that I once again introduce Bethlehem Steel to the Atlantic Waters. Welding day is scheduled for Sat. if the weather co-operates.
I also have a 3D artistic plan for the remaining left over signed pieces that involves Bethlehem Steel and a certain group of Newfoundlanders high over New York City in fine photo form. Art for the new addition. :D

P.S.Notice how I managed to sneak a little of my history into that equation :D

I almost bought one of these in 1964, but the young fellow willing to sell it to me, because he permanently lost his license 3rd DUI, couldn't convince co-owner dad to sign title over. Dating myself too.

A Stude Hawk, almost competes with PAR'S 53 Buick for rideability. As a kid my next door neighbor had one and I actually got to take a ride in it as a matter of fact i think half the ball team were crammed in there. The ball field being about a mile from my part of town. Still have my Black Diamond three fingered glove.

Stewed hawk? Is the flavor similar to eagle casserole?

    Boat Cart

Started welding the main frame together on Sat. Finished welding and chipping at about 3:00pm and completed applying the zinc primer at 6:00. Today Mon. I did a test assembly of the front end, made a few minor touch ups, disassembled and started priming. Tomorrow I make a trip to "Metals R Us" and pick up the 2 frame rails that tie the front steering axle assembly to the main frame in ready for welding on Sat.

Hoyt, winter was on me this morning -- -5C and an inch of snow. Most melted by noon but still a shocker for this time of year. Could be worst like floods and tornadoes or relentless heat and humidity. Ya can dress for the cold but butt naked is easy access for mosquitoes. :)
