You might want to buy a new starter motor any way as a spare, and a solenoid,(any solenoid will do).

If the solenoid is clicking then its something in that small area like batt, wires, solenoid or starter.

Get some jump leads ( need those too) and slam a live across to the stater.

Negative from the engine is also just as important to get the power out again.

Use one of the jump cables to a neg on the engine to a neg on the batt.

It all a process of elimination.

Hi Frosty,
Thanks, mostly done, or, will be done Thursday...

The weather here is cold and miserably overcast... I am hankering to get under-way and bugger off to warmer climes...

*_____________________________________***______________________________________*

All because someone went over to Indonesia and took some 'footage' which got shown on 'free-to-air' television, (using a digital camera) of the "primitive and cruel slaughtering methods in local Indonesian abattoirs", of cattle that were exported live from Australia to be halal slaughtered In Indonesia...

Then the "doo-gooders" got all upset and forced the politicians, (because the stupid fools wanted to be re-elected at the elections soon), to ban the export of any more livestock to Indonesia...

Now the farmers are up in arms as that has closed a multi-billion dollar annual export business and they are likely to ensure that the politicians up their way are also not re-elected... Then the other "side", (clean-skins, independent, opportunists and rabble-rousers), will get elected in a minority government, so nothing will happen still...

- Blame is being cast hither-and-yon from the sidelined politicians like Bob Katter...
http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2...section=justin
http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2...section=justin
http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2...section=justin
http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2...section=justin

Has started a bloody big bun-fight here in Australia...
- male politicians are swinging their handbags at 20 paces and pouting,
- the female politicians are making like cats and goading the males with "meoww",
- bureaucrats are in full defensive mode, denying any culpability as their hands are tied by political constraints - there are none - ,

A vivid demonstration of political-bureaucratic immaturity, idiocy, stupidity, incompetence, waste of space and so on....

Also hovering in the background is
- Poor results and press releases on the state of the economy...
- "the boat people" / illegal immigration debacle / farce http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2...section=justin
- The climate change issues and carbon tax http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2...section=justin

I want to see $40/tonne or more as that would help me market "carbon sequestering" opportunities...

and not a decent cartoonist in sight, to capitalise on the disasters unfolding...
I will visit the boat this weekend, just to check systems and tidy up a bit (and take some pictures? - if I remember?)...

"the gouging of cattle's eyes, slashing with blunt knives and the breaking of limbs"

australian cattle farmers can go **** themselves. they deserve to go bankrupt. cattle feel just as much pain as humans do. they have a very developed nervous system. until the indonesians and australians can learn how to be human, this ban should continue. and in case you're wondering - lack of meat does not lead to human starvation. it is not a staple.

Richard, Look for the FACTS... It is not the Australian farmers, - - who would be jumped on by more than the "do-gooders" if 'anything-wrong' by them, was imagined even...........

It is after they are sold to the Indonesian feed-lots, who then on-sell to agents, who then on-sell to the small abattoirs which may "butcher" one or two beasts per day that the rabid do-gooders videoed and released for prime time TV viewing...

Your statement lacks thought and basic research... May I suggest you go **** some Ewes?

It is like the complaints about Australian Muelsing (removal of wool growing skin from around the anus of wool producing sheep...
Mulesing effectively stops flystrike, which can kill sheep in days to weeks... The mulesing activity, when done in conjunction with a regular ear-tagging and weaning/sorting the ewes from the rams/wethers, - is FAR LESS TRAUMATIC than bring the sheep into yards just once for checking on the regular weekly regime if mulesing was prohibited...

This regular yarding and checking would otherwise have to be done, AT LEAST, on a weekly basis and the day after it rained... It would need the farmer to hire shearers and shed-hands, to open the shearing shed and give the sheep a "haircut around the anus", as well as apply some nasty chemicals to kill the eggs and maggots that may come in the next couple of days...
That regular process would be very traumatic for the sheep and increase the operating cost and consequent cost of meat at the retail level to about double or triple current prices...

Think in terms of mustering sheep on a 500,000 acre farm carrying some 40,000 head - the sheep would loose around 2 days of access to natural feed...

Which is worse death by flystrike and rotting skin & meat? - or - the removal of a small portion of skin which has no nerves as sheep skin there floats on a layer of fat and the tails are also removed so the **** does not accumulate there and give the flies a nice place to lay their eggs...

Somewhat less traumatic than human reduction of the male foreskin (which significantly reduces the risk of STD infections) - die of HIV etc, live in total abstinence or give the young boy a small skin removal?

don't think australians support this treatment, i have not spoken to anyone who does. i think mas is talking more about the blanket ban on the whole business. the ban should be on the offenders not all the good indonesian companys that comply with international standards. yesterday there were cattle producers on the radio saying they support the ban but don't want to ban the good operators, i think this is very fair. so don't you call us cruel when you haven't got all the facts. what about the things you kiwis have been doing to sheep for years and there is no outcry. how do you think the sheep feel about dating humans, i bet they are ashamed of themselves.

Yes, all this treating of sheep for maggots is traumatic.

Better to go for the breeds that require no treatment eg

i hope all farmers, including new zealand ones, are seriously considering rwatson's suggestion.

by the way...
circumcision should be the patient's choice. no one else should make that decision, unless there is an emergency.

Hi rwatson,
Only a very minor problem there, the pastoralists in the hot-dry country like inland of the coast between Carnarvon and Bunbury, Western Australia, - are into the fine-wool-business and that demands Merino... To ignore the wool side and go for meat the farmer needs abatoirs, infrastructure, more feed and that demands better water for livestock drinking (quite saline around Gascoyne Junction where I was)...

Does that breed handle the WET-TROPICS? like where coconuts are grown? I will do some homework, Thanks for the link...

Richard,
?

more doom and gloom, i am inclined to agree with the people that say if its going to crash let it. and start fresh. i really know nothing about economics but to me it seems if you have to keep propping up economys you are just stalling something which has to happen. probably wrong but like i said, i don't know much.

Is that anything like letting dry rot sink a boat, instead of maintaining it?

Nothing man-made can be created and turned loose, and be expected to last forever; institutions and systems need regular maintenance and updating just like structures do. That doesn't mean there's no point in tweaking, correcting and realigning them....

Or those that have gone "rogue" to be closed...
- I am impressed by the courage of Bernanke in declaring no more QE III...
- One cannot artificially boost an economy that is being sucked dry by vampire-banksters,,, spendthrift-politicians,,, parasitic-drones-of-viral-bureaucrats,,, corrupting-"lobbyists"... The plague is global...

When I hear hoofbeats I fear 'scarlet skinned 2 legged horned devil-like creatures' from;;; vampire-banksters,,, spendthrift-politicians,,, parasitic-drones-of-viral-bureaucrats,,, corrupting-"lobbyists"...

Frosty, we all try to keep our lives balanced, right? not too much of this and not too much of that. we make some effort to hold onto our mental health and our sense of morality. if we have to fill our bodies with chemicals to keep that balance, or punch the wall.....or whatever....there is usually a very human reason for it. i'm not casting stones at those indonesian psychopaths. i'm not saying they should be tortured. i'm saying they have little or no humanity. there is something seriously wrong in their brains - probably caused by prenatal trauma. when people have no feelings at all, they usually cannot be helped and therefore they should be imprisoned. in this particular case, the cattle are worth more than the people.
if you think i should get off my high horse and show some humility, then you are totally missing my point. could you gouge the eyes out of a cow and break it's legs to make it more manageable, and cut it up without killing it? only a psychopath can do that. the world is packed full of psychopaths, especially in places where there is a high level of violence and child abuse.
"do-gooders" are often looked upon as arrogant, self-righteous pricks. but at least they are TRYING to find a better balance. but the stupid ones often get it wrong.
