anybody ever try to build one working unit 12v ??

I don't see you getting a half liter an hour in the southern ocean.
Plus Peltier coolers are very energy intensive.
I recommend more research before buying anything.
Seems like I read a company called Global Cooling had a relatively efficient cooler that used the peltier effect, and Coleman sold them under their brand, but ceased to carry them some years ago I think.

That's cool. Imagine what could be done with desalination technology in order to limit damages of global warming or even prevent global warming by pumping fresh water from the ocean through gigantic pipelines into the deserts of the world.

I think the best way to describe it is reverse refrigeration ???

Condensation takes place when the air and condensation surface is a certain temperature apart. It may be easier to heat the air up by circulating it through a solar vacuum tube and using a small fan. The fan may even assist in keeping the condensation surface cool.

I was going to build one but haven't yet.

Since you have lots of sea water, if you use a solar tube you may generate drinking water through evaporation. If I fill a 1m800 x 58mm tube holding 2.5L of water, it boils itself dry in a day on a clear hot day.

What worries me is you get sick if you drink sea water, but you can buy sea salt to put in your food.

Will you still get sick if you make soup with sea water and drink that ?

Big Day Today

Well folks here are the pics I have been promising for ages.

This has been an unbelievable amount of work.
Back breaking, mind blowing, blood sweat and often tears.
Many a day when you ask yourself why why why.

Then you have a beer you sit back and look at it, and you know why,
it's a boat - and a man has got to do what a man must do

The steel ballast was completely encased in epoxy, you can see it in the one pic.
The total hull thickness is 100 mm (4 x 20mm poly in 6 compartments)
1000 liters of buoyancy
and as she sits now she comes in at under 500 kg which is exactly what I was hoping for.

I will make time next week for the blog and facebook
but now it is time for the hand rails, hatches, rudder and swim platform.

Oh - the 24v 1.1kw 86 lbs thrust Newport trolling motor IS GREAT it pushes Fargo easily at 4 knots. All I need to get in and out of the harbour.

There were 2 months that I could not work at all - April and November 2015
