. . . It's quite sad that the originator, Harvey, died from cancer and Gordon from a heart attack before they finished their boats. The Support boat (a steel Roberts Spray 40') VAL, owned by Nick Dwyer set of and sailed across the Atlantic Ocean to the Panama Canal, to Galapagos Islands, Marquesas through all the French Polynesian Islands to Fiji. Why come back to Europe???? He stayed there for two years before sailing on to NZ to do a complete re-fit of his yacht where materials are easier to get. He has just re-launched this week and probably sailing to Oz.

Me, the mortal Webmaster and Forum keeper, Radio Ham, boat builder . . . . . I built many models of "Puffin" my AiT boat but my wife has been ill for many years and the full-size boat never got built. I do have an Albin Vega 27 which sits on her mooring on the Norfolk Broads nr the east coast, UK. Tends to be used as a restbite retreat for a few days here and there.

I will be watching with great interest of yr travels in your 10ft boat!

    Bye for now

That looks impressive Manie ! Put some more pictures up, will you ?

When this boat is done you may consider doing a couple of kitchens. I can see a cockpit style kitchen could become fashionable ;)

    Thanks

Thanks to everybody for the messages
    much appreciated

Ok so I am too old for "selfies"
but we need to do what we need to do ;)

So to give true perspective of size here are pics with me in the boat
it just shows that a 3m (10 ft) boat can be perfectly comfortable
sure there isn't space for dancing girls and a band
but two of us have sat inside having a beer and it was great fun
but I suppose if the dancing girl was tiny she can come and have a glass of wine :p

I am 1.7m (5' 7") tall (shortass) ;) and not basket ball material
so a person over 5' 9" is going to battle
but for me it's all the space I need

    The hand holds are brilliant
2 layers of glass wrapped around a 25mm pole and strongly mounted top and bottom - steel pins in the core

    more to follow soon ;)

    Standing

And here is one standing on the cockpit benches
this is basically how I will be handling the sails
    easy to get to everything
there will be a handrail all round the boat so that if I had to go forward there will be plenty of places to hold onto

For those of you that have read Serge Testa's book you will recall that he had a lot of problems with skin conditions due to poor ventilation.
    I prefer "forced" electric ventilation.
That is why I installed two 12v extractor fans.
You only run one at a time. It extracts the air out of the boat and fresh air enters the boat via the duct where the fan is not running.
Should it brake, you simply switch the other on and replace the broken one easily.
The outside entry to the air ducts are above the water line - both when the boat is upright OR UPSIDE DOWN.
The air ducts run in-between the outer and inner hulls and are fitted with deflection plates that act as a labyrinth so that water is prevented from just splashing directly upwards.

I have tested the system and it really works exceptionally well.
Also keep in mind where I want to go it is cold and wet.
Average temperatures 4 to 12 C and rain virtually every second or third day.
