Making a rub rail

    thanks for the revival.

    I am still mulling over the idea of putting a rubrail on my wood/epoxy 36' cat. I have avoided any fasteners in the hull or the deck so far. Also I will need some rub strips at the sheer at the deck cleats. I keep thinking of using half round acetal or similar, that is temporarily held in place while a small fillet of epoxy cures that is bonded to the hull (or deck) and slightly covers the edge of the half round, so that it holds it in place once cured, yet stays out of the way, pretty much when the rail is rubbing up on something. If it is faired in, then it will also tend not to catch on a piling top or something coming up vertical from underneath.

    Just thinking out loud here. What do yall think?
