| looking for a kit or plans Howdy all, I am looking for preferably kit but also plans for something like a sports cruiser or small express yacht. I've had a look at Bruce Roberts and Global marine design. BUT, there seems to be alot of controversy about Bruce Roberts and GMD seems to target professional shipyards more. I've never done anything like this before but I only want to build one and not a lot of practice ones. Does anyone have any recommendations and price expectations? Cheers, Peter |

| Peter You didn't say how big you want to go. That'll limit your responses on here. How's this for a start? http://boatplans-online.com/proddetail.php?prod=CX25 |

| Looking for a kit or plans True, you haven't mentioned the size. For a small easy to build 'day/weekend' sailer try: http://www.zeglarstwo.sail-ho.pl/sztraeng/sztrengl.html ![]() |

| Alot of good boats have been built with Bruce Robert's plans. The biggest problem I see with his plans & instructions is that he sometimes makes things sound simpler than what the reality is. There are probably 30 plus sets of his plans out there for every boat actually built from them. Of course that holds true for others also. TGoz |

| Regarding Bruce Roberts, he does have a lot of nice looking designs ( http://www.bruceroberts.com/ ). If you're interested, make sure to go through his own company (the link in the previous sentence), he will not provide support or consultation for projects built from pirated or counterfeit plans (of which there are many, he was the victim of some sort of counterfeit printing company a while back).

| Wow! I love the Euro The is another Bruce Roberts site http://www.bruce-roberts.com.au which also says they are legitimate. Living in Australia this one would be more convenient. Anyone know about them? |

| The contact information listed on both sites is exactly identical. This usually means that they're the same site. The second (.au) appears to be merely a duplicate frontend for the first (.com). If you're serious about it, call the guy.

| Bruce does have some good books that I would suggest you look into if you decide on one of his designs. And his prices are some of the best, along with support from him & some who work for him. It is probably a good idea to get books from several designer/builders to obtain different perspectives. The internet is great but, to me, does not replace an old fashioned paper & ink book, but is a valuable supplement. Take care. TGoz |

| The .com.au site is the one BR is in Dispute with. Stick with the .com site. |
