Has anyone dealt with this company before? I ordered some epoxy from them that I don't think is really epoxy or else it is really bad epoxy. Just wanted to know if anyone has dealt with them, good or bad.

One of the things that separate SPAM and trolls from real posts and real folks is details.

rtw38 doesn't sign his post and doesn't provide any details. In my experience those two ommissions signal "be suspicious" until proven otherwise.

So rtw38, please substantiate your claims with details - lots and lots of details and be so kind as to sign your name.

Weird. I never sign my name. I'm not hiding, I just never really thought to do it on forums before. If that's the culture here, then it is. Not all forums are like that though.

But yeah, the lack of detail renders the post pretty much useless as is. My bet is that it's a legitimate person with a legitimate issue, but he's in over his head on the issue of "what is epoxy and what does it do". So his issue is probably rather silly and unimportant to any serious boat builder. More info is definitely needed.

Ben, After you've read about a zillion posts here you'll see it repeated time and again, folks that engage in a 'conversation' in the written (typed ) form like to be able to address folks by a name.

In many threads you'll see folks that do not sign their names - and you will also see folks that ask - sometimes repeatedly - for a name so that we/they can be a bit more friendly. That (IMO) is all there is about names.

Well, I sign my name to every post!
I am building a 40' wooden Spray (Bruce Roberts design) Strip plank contruction.
I need a LOT of epoxy to use for the construction of the hull and to use throughout the entire boat building processs. I have been doing research on many different epoxies and I have learnd that for boat building most companies use a similar resin. It is the hardeners that differ.

I have also found out that the West System is rather expensive. This company appears to offer a "generic" epoxy system that may work just as well. Does anyone have any opinions about this company? Do you think that this epoxy is similar? Could I use this epoxy throughout the entire boat?

I've used their product on a 15' boat with good results. Compares well to West Systems which I have also used. The greer product seem to give more working time. For most applications it seems to work well.

I'm using it now ( J. greer) 300/21 no problem, long pot life, decent price.

there cheap and good,they dont spend a fortune on marketing, ive seen them selling on ebay,
iam going to try a 10 gallon kit and see how it is

Wow, this site is helpful. Rt can you specify exactly what the epoxy was being used for when there were problems?... anyway, looks like everybody else likes J greer epoxy so Im going to order some to seal a canvas skin - on - frame umiak in my backyard. 68$ for a gallon of resin and half gallon of hardener, couldnt find a price that was even comparable.
