| Boston If your not afraid of computers, this might help, it does need a Windows installation cd to install the OS onto the Virtual machine. VirtualBox. I have a similar setup on my Win 7 for a couple of XP-only programs. Lurvio

| I swore off spending money on Microsoft products following one bad experience after another. Catastrophic virus seems to be a integral part of there business plan. I'm on an old MAC mini thats been running like a top for years and years without issue, except of course that some programs wont run on it. A small price to pay but a price none the less. Its kinda hard to screw up a MAC tho even with a windows product so if I can find the program your suggesting I'll give it a go as long as I'm not sinking any cash into it. I really am just that cured of Microsoft products. Would be interesting to see what the various alterations produce tho. I'm pretty much just waiting for a nod on what piece of floor to put the lofting platform on and I"m off like a herd of turtles

| You need VirtualPC (and old version) that you may be able to find online. It's a huge mess of a file and slow, but you can run any PC program in the VirtualPC emulator. I used to use it back around 2000 or so on my Macs running OSX. I believe they do have a version for OS9 also, depending on how old your mac is. I have a copy of the old VirtualPC archived but I can't send it on account of my internet connection not being up to par for that size file.

| Running an emulator on an old computer to use a graphics-intensive program is going to be excruciatingly slow. You'd likely do better to pickup a used PC someplace . . .

| no worries I'm just going to draw it out by hand anyway, it will help alleviate issues during the build and give me patterns to build to. Having a computer generated image just isn't worth the money to buy a PC. I'm content with never playing with virus, spyware or malware, trojans, worms the lot of it, all in the past. But I do appreciate the fun you guys probably had modeling it. Only part I've not really looked into all that seriously is the transom and I've got time on that one. cheers B

| So I been thinking about the advice about not inventing the swiveling drive unit for this thing. I keep thinking maybe a well with a small diesel outboard in it, if there is such a thing, would be almost as good and just as hidden. But I'm not sure they make a small diesel outboard and the weight might be an issue. It would however free up some space under the "hood" so to speak cheers B Ok those outboards are really pricey someone was asking about if I found the Yanmar 13.4 HP diesels for a reasonable price check out http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...155673438#shId and tell me what you think they are about 300 more than I would have spent at the surplus center and about 200 more than what this other guy I found sells em for but the surpluss center is out of them and the other guy hasn't gotten back to me yet. If I marry this thing to a sail drive or to my swiveling drive unit it should work like a charm, and it will burn bio-diesel, WVO or WMO 5:30 AM am so bloody excited to get started on that drawing I cant sleep, Will head down to the warehouse at first light.

| had a fun day working on the big print. ![]() I got the raised sheer, sheer, chine, Rabbet line and keel lines drawn in on the elevation. The raised sheer, sheer, WL1, WL2, and WL3 in on the plan view. Tomorrow I'll draw in the chine in plan view and start the half breadths, hopefully get them done so sunday I can check the buts and get rolling on the new stations. Monday I should be able to finish the stations at 33" centers. and middle to end of the week I can start assembling pieces. Just for fun I drew in a different keel line. knocked about 9" off the draft and simply went back level from x distance down off the low point of the fairbody line. Given the open detail aft of station 7 of the original keel I calculated the number of sq inches lateral resistance and maintained it, my one concern is how the boat might behave coming off the top of a wave, could corkscrew a bit easier without that deeper keel holding it straight. On the other hand in calm water having reduced the forward profile, less drag = more efficient, should track the same. Any thoughts folks while its still just a drawing. cheers B ![]()

| Thanks I did look through those just last night, The Yanmar looks to be about the most likely option but those go for about 8~10k new and although I did find a few used ones they were pretty beet. Yikes ! those are expensive.
