cold galvanized floors

Hi,
I'm doing a major rebuild on 42' sloop, oak frames and mahogany plank. Some of the orginal iron floors (interior metal strapping fastened to keel wood, same strapping also through bolted to lower hull planking.) have corroded away to nothing at the keel, the remainder of the vessel is in very good condition. I believe I can shape replacement iron floors, needing to replace floors at 4 frame stations, just forward of rudder stock. My question is, does anyone have experience with cold galvanizing? My understanding is that after fabricating a metal assembly, simply paint a few coats of this stuff on and the fabricator can expect the same results as hot dip galvanizing. Hot dip is not readily availible where I live. Also, if cold galvanizing works as well as I hope, the added bonus is any last minute maching can be touched up with cold galvanize, thereby leaving the metal fully protected from corrosion.
Any info would be appreciated. Also, any suggestions where to gather info on various ways to sister frames would also be appreciated.
Richard

Tar epoxy is a better product. It is very tough but flexible.

I have used the cold galv. spray can stuff on welded spots on a trailer build with galv. steel. After about a year of so some spots of rust did show through. I do need to say these areas were not as clean as they should have been.
