Butyl Rubber Stringer Bedding

Hello everybody was just wondering if a butyl rubber based caulking could be used as a beding compound on my stringer replacement job. This caulking is very flexible when cured and is as tough as nails, I have been using around my door installs in peoples homes for many years now and am quite amazed at its durability. The caulking in question is made by Mulco, and its name is Supra Expert. Its free to me thats why i ask. thanks
