Anyone know what motors might fit my boat?

I just bought a 19' 1986 Capri Bayliner. It currently has a 4 cyl Volvo inboard engine that tops the boat out at 35 mph. I don't know how long this engine will last since I have had the boat one day and it's all ready died and won't start. I'm thinking about starting a savings account for a motor replacement.

Is thier any other motors that would be a direct bolt-on and allow me to hit 45 mph?

Thanks in advance for any info.

Capri,

What Volvo engine do you have? The old B-20 pushrod engine was pretty aggy, but quite durable, so if that's what you have, you might just be best off rebuilding it and installing some hot-roddy parts on it. (Like, maybe a U-cam, a couple of webers and intake, get the head ported, etc, I think you get the idea)

Yoke.

Hey, here's another thought, perhaps you could use a B-30 engine instead, in practical terms it's the same engine as the B-20, but with six cylinders instead of four.

Yoke.
