I'm an Amateur yacht designer and I'm trying to design a 35' trimaran. My greatest problem is that there isn't any books for formulas for design them.
While I'm here I'm looking for a mathematical formula that can take sail area and break it down in to luff, leech, and foot. I'm sort of getting sick of drawing and redrawing a rig. Also how does one figure out and draw a full roach main that most multihull have and batten spacing? I had read a great article on the Internet about them and lost it. Also is their a mathematical formula for calculating COE for sails?
How does one calculate the RM and righting arm of a trimaran and a catamaran? How does one do heeling calculations for both?
Also any rules of thumb for calculating COB for a multihull or balancing the hull with engine, water tanks, fuel tanks, etc?
[Edit] Also for a multihull with a bowsprit, how do you determine load and scanting?
Thanks,
Joe
