Can someone please educate me on the difference between fibeglass cloth versus fiberglass fabric? What is the appropriate use for each, or is it just a preference.

It looks like they mean the same thing, but the fabric is a much heavier weave. I have no idea why they make the distinction though...

Generally, there is mat , cloth , uni-directional , tape and roving which are totally unique.

The vendors of fibreglass products (in general) often seem incapable of using the right terminology. Presumably they're looking for the "novelty items" market, the "closest I could find" market or possibly the "I didn't know what I needed when i went in but now I do" market.

If in doubt, look at the roll.

Cloth was coined earlier when "Boat Cloth" fiberglass was introduced. It is generally heavy. With the advent of thinner cloth and sophisticated weave, they started calling it "fabric". I guess it makes sense. Cloth is in the early days, Fabric is more sophisticated.
