I have a customer who owns an older Rybo Runner. He is interested in possibly purchasing the tooling for the boat. Any help in locating the molds and the owners would be helpfull.

Sorry to answer a question with a question, but what happened to the 'new' rybo/rainbowrunner? My last contact with them was in 1999 when Charles Dore sent some things and there seemed to be a lot of enthusiasm for their new hull which incorporated a Harry Schoell step. When exactly did they go out of business and was it economics apart from their actual design or did their design changes not go so smoothly?

P.S. I forgot to also say welcome to our forums rocketman!

I'm not sure when or why they went out of business. I have only seen the one boat. My customer has seen one newer boat with the built in motor bracket. I don't know if anything else is different.
Thanks for any help.

I am looking for whoever has the old Rybovich Rybo Runner 31 molds. I understand that Charles Dore might no longer own them. Can you help?

Thanks,

If you can't find them. I can reverse engineer the boat he has and produce a new set of tooling. I can be reached at amason1866@earthlink.net or 252-482-5930.

In addition to the last message.....the person wanting the tooling must also have rights to the design...if this is not the case I can still help w/new design & tooling creation.

I had heard that Dusky used the mold for the Dusky 33. I am not sure whether they bought/control the rights or just borrowed it

It is the same hull design but a different set of tooling. I know the person who sold that mold to dusky..... There are I think now 4 or 5 sets of this mold out there.

Those moulds have been around the world and back. If Cal Cannell is still alive in North Palm Beach, give him a call, Cannell Engineering. You can also rummage around Spencer-Rybovich and find out from some of the older ones how to locate him, if still alive. He did all of the machining for the chairs and also contct Murray Brothers. His shop was out west of Riverea Beach. Try Smith boat works also. Call Whitcar boatworks in Stuart Florida. Boating is a big little world.

Do you know who has the 42' Rybo-Runner mold now? I know Ugly Boat laid up one and has it for sale, but he has a proud price on it, but I do not know if he still has the mold.

If you look at the boat and it's construction you would see why we are proud....

There is a guy on the west coast of Florida who has the original Ryborunner molds. His name is Stanley White and he is building the boat under the name of Ocean Runner 31. He also built the boat as a Rage Runner for a while. I will try to find his contact information.

Chris, If you can get the complete spec's for that boat, something I've been wanting to do for a long time, I think I can promise you thefirst new boat out of the mold. I have opportunities to make this hull in Costa Rica AND Panama at very low cost with great profit margin. Get back to me asap. Chrism,
Tried an e-mail to you at <amason1866@earthlink.net> , and it got thrown back as "no address". Tried your phone number no answer. Can you send a mail to me on this site, or at "capnbob_2001@yahoo.com" and/or "fishpanama@hotmail.com', As you know from my posts, I'm loking for either a mold , or the spec's for a mold of the 31 Rybo Runner. Not too long ago, I think (?) 1999, I had a guy who wanted to invest in an operation in Panama with me. I told him I knew of the perfect boat for our waters and styles of fishing, the Rainbow Runner! I spoke with charles Dore about making /buying 6 boats. Then the investor got cold feet. Still have the Panama op., and still want the boats . Can you help?

I have a 1987 Rybovich RyboRunner. I repowered mine with surface piercing drives from PulseDrive this past summer and truly think it's one of the finest boats around. I am moving up to a larger boat in the spring so let me know if you need any pictures or measurements before I sell her. I can be contacted at robwhitejr@sprynet.com

The 31' Rybo Runner molds are at the Jersey Cape factory. 28 boats were built last year for Commercial Water Sports in Cape May, NJ for Parasail operators.

Any chance that you still have the hull? Very interested if you do. If not I would be interested in the knowing the diferences in the hull design between 84 and 87. Were the side vents closed in? Lifting strake differences? P#732-530-8832

I’m a new member. I have a 1983, hull #10. 1983 was the first year. The side vents on my boat are oval, about 2x5, 2 for each step. The rear vents for each step are large. I still have the sea-drives on my boat, 93’s. When under full power the boat screams with a lift that barely has much more than the cockpit in the water. Handles fantastically. As you can see, I’m a bigot! More than happy to share pictures.

Would you happen to have a telephone number for Cape May factory? We have a 31' Rybovich that needs a design or engineering change to accomodate a gill bracket and 2 - 250hp Outboards. Would you happen to know who I could reach to discuss technical questions on this 1985 31' boat?

The factory is in the Cape May area and they build the ocean pro 31 for both parasailing and a CC sport fish. The # is 609-624-3404. The guy's name is Mat. They have taken out the steps in the hull and the boat sits 3-5 inches higher in the water. Other than that it is the same boat.

Thanks for the info on the cavitation. I just rode on a 1983 that we are looking at. While we were running (2-3' sea) I opened the hatches where the side fish boxes are (they were removed and I was looking directly at the hull) and was amazed to see how much the hull was flexing. Literally an inch or so on each wave. Is this normal?? I can't imagine that this is the way the boat was built originally. Any info on hull flex would be greatly appreciated

Capt Bob, Rybo Runners were being built earlier this year up in New Jersey by Typhoon Marine, see typhoonmarine.com. The latest I heard just this month by word of mouth and hearing from them is that Jersey Cape, still in New Jersey, is now making them as their new boat, Little Devil 31. You can see this at jerseycape36.com. I heard from the president and he confirmed that in deed these are from the original Rybo Runner, but they have changed the hull to a deep V and removed the steps.

I hope the group doesn't mind, but I thought I would share that my Rybo Runner is for sale. Bad News, the boat sank in it's slip this past month due to heavy storms up north. Good News, other than it sinking no hull damage was done and the boat was raised quickly. But, will most likely need to be re-powered as I still had the OMC Sea Drives on the boat. You see, this is a 1983, hull 10 and was I was trying to keep her as original as possible. The boat was just completely re-wired over the past few years. Unfortunately I can't invest the time and money to redo her again. So please feel free to contact me if you are interested at jjz0512@aol.com

I own what I believe to be one of the few, if not the only Diesel Powered 30 Foot Rybo Runner available in Good to Very Good Condition. At 65 years of age, my Offshore days are limited, and my wife has asked me to be realistic and place this dear craft on the open market.

I have done extensive work on this boat in the last three years, including the total rebuild of the outdrive; which spins a 19x23 - 4 blade stainless prop and pushes this boat along at a steady 20 to 25 MPH depending on the sea state.
In addition, I have rebuilt with new parts, the front of the engine including all new pumps, and had the Turbo Rebuilt by a Diesel Engine Manufacturer.

This stepped hull craft could be used to build models after it and can be seen by request for email pictures. I am hoping that someone can help me to allow someone to acquire this gem.

I can be contacted at ken315@adelphia.net for further details.
