Help identifiying boat

Hi, please could anyone help me identifying this dinghy?

I inherited her from my mother. The boat has been in a shed for the last 25 years but is going back in the water this year :)

All I know is that she is an 11+ dinghy, probably obtained by my family in the early 1960's, although she may be older than that. She was used for racing and fun sailing in the Clyde area (Scotland).

Any information at all would be very welcome.

That would be an Eleven-plus, as proven by the logo on the sail. I haven't seen one in ages, but they were reasonably popular when I was a kid (back in the last century sometime :))

It's an 11+

I learnt to sail in one - number 542 - in 1970 ish?


designed for home building in the 60's, like a small Enterprise, but with the panels rising up at the bow.

11 foot long, main and jib, with a proper long mast - unlike it's rival the Mirror dinghy - which is still going strong!

This was the first boat I ever sailed in, when I was about 6 years old. I also caught my 1st fish in her! But she went into the shed when our family bought a yaught soon after that.

I'm really looking forward to getting her back into the water this year. I had a quick row around in her last september and she didn't take on any water despite having been high and dry for about 25 years!

She belonged to my mother who used her in the 1960s for fun and some racing. I was born in 1972 so I dont think she got very much use after that apart from that brief spell in the water in about 1978. The sails and all the running gear are in extraordinarily good condition. Its interesting to hear that they were home build jobs becaue my great grandfather built some boats of his own, and my granfather was a joiner so they were more than likely involved in putting her together.

She's getting a new varnish job and her hull painted in the next couple of weeks, then I think she'll just need some new rigging and we'll be away.

Can't wait! :)
