I just purchased two 8.1 HO MPI Crusader engines with Hurth trans which will replace Crusader 502s with BW V trans on a 1990 Silverton 40 Express. Would appreciate any advice, suggestions, recommendations, etc. regarding the change over, i.e., what else will I have to change, what I should consider changing and of course, any first hand knowledge of the engines.

They are direct replacements. The 8.1 are lighter and a bit smaller.
If your transmission ratio is the same, the pitch in the propellers will need to increase. The new engines have more HP and torque.
