2 Trailerable
3 Range 300 miles
4 Crew, 2 minimum
5 Price range, under 50K US, for home built.

Thanks for all the votes and interest and welcome to all the new members signing on and contributing!
Right, getting to it:
Lets say - (s'cuse me being bossy :p ) that we are to draw up a full design so that it could be constructed easily by a smallish yard and at the same time the yard could sell bare hulls and kits for home completion - i.e that we don't have to consider the ease of construction of the hull so much but for everything else we do. - Also I don't know how designers get paid but maybe the yard could pay less than the going rate for the design up front in exchange for royalties on the kit sales... - and designing all the modifications for their home builders. - (comments on that one in a new thread please!!)
Gary (aka Duluthboats) would you enlighten us on the kind of conditions that will be encountered by this boat where you would like to cruise her - which may of course not be where you live... being trailerable and all :) ....
....Ok Here are some more immediate questions..
For use in the USA (hey ..if mine won it would have been Spain!) - what are the trailerable restrictions ?
Hull material ?
Propulsion
There is a thread already on this.
Budget: how much for a complete boat and how much for the kit at various stages.
Displacement/semi/planing?
Ballast
wiring, plumbing and electronics (hey I got to have some input into this!)
and about a thousand more questions..
So here's how it's a gonna work ....:D
For each of the important questions start a new thread and link it from this thread (I am sure Jeff will help out if you have problems with the technical side)
Discuss the elements that interest you, start new threads on anything not yet mentioned - serious disagreements can be resolved with a poll (or a coin  ).
I will try and gather up what we have so far occasionally as we go along. If anyone wants to draw it up - start a hull design thread - but, if steel (for example!) is the hot favourite for construction material then it would be nice to draw something constructable in steel.
Thanks to everyone for making this so entertaining!
Cheers!
Paul
