Has there been federal laws enacted to prevent hull splashing from occuring? If so could anyone please give me some information on what has occurred. I have read a lot of depositions about the subject but I cannot find any information about legislation that was enacted because of the boatbuilders testimony. Thank you

It just came up on the forums in relation to the Pro-Line / Maverick Boat Co Suit - have you already seen this thread http://boatdesign.net/forums/showthread.php?s=&postid=1887#post1887 and the links to “the Vessel Hull Design Protection Act” at the end?

Public Law No 105-304 (10/28/98)

I don't have much background on this myself, but I'm also curious to find out more.

Interesting thread... talk about a long discussion!

The list of boats said to be splashed is longer than the list of boats protected by the new VHPA right now!

Also the reference to the 10% Change law which predated it, and that boats not introduced in the last 2 years are not covered by the new VHPA.
