I'm a student at the University of New Orleans, NAME, and was wondering if anyone knows where I can get offsets for a tug. I just need some numbers to put into RhinoCad so that I can get a basic design to follow for my design project.

Thanks, Chris

Hello...

There is an easier way if you just need a hullform model...

Lay a scan of stations (hit the library) as a BMP onto a rectangle and trace (polyline) the stations - rotate them 90 degrees - then with end onsnap on drop them onto the fairbody - loft thru them...

This is described at http://www.3drender.com/rhino/boathtml/index.htm ...

Free download these days...

Photo below should prove a challenge to model... :) - fantastic site - http://northstargallery.com/boneyard/boneyard11.htm ...

Lots of plans and profiles - no stations - http://www.ral.bc.ca/designs/designs.html - Robert Allen is just 'down the road' - he might send you some photocopies of stations if you tell him you are just modelling as a student ...

I am assuming you are talking about Rhino3D - if not - well...

You should look at the Model Resistance Data Sheets for 12 tugs, Data Sheets D-7, from the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers. They cost $50 for non-members, and $25 for members. Good reason to join the society!) Your department library might even have them--they should. These should have lines plans of at least the basic model, and also the variations for the other 11 models.
