epoxy bog, or fibreglass resin with red micropheres??

can anyone tell me what is best to use, i have a 12m steel hull but which i have replaced part of the hull and have some inperfections and need to do a lot of fairing and filling etc, what is better to use, the epoxy 2 pot bog or fibreglass resin with red micropheres? if any one has had some experience in the two and could let me know their opionion that would be great, they seem to be both around the same price in 20l capacity

What do you mean with fibreglass resin?
Your fairing compound must meet optimal surface conditions or there will be trouble with adhesion.
Boats are flexing, and so your choice of compound must be able to take this, or you will have cracks. If the compound is very thick (dimension - not consistency), this becomes risky; it will be a good idea to shape the steel first. Less fairing is always better.

Use epoxy for fairing.

If you need a lot of fairing, the first step is to heat and hammer the bumps off. Fairing compound should not be too thick.

...use epoxy resin with phenolic spheres ..microbaloons (red stuff)...they are made for underwater use. They fill the resin to being a good easily sanded bog and is quite flexible.

boero bog is softer to sand than awlgrip
most superyachts would look like kicked welded buckets without it
they speed weld them, unlike shipyards many years ago who did not use filler
there was one superyacht in ........................gio where a guy put his back to the hull and made himself as flat as possible
his mate looked along the hull

but the density of the bog/filler may have an affect on the fairers, they launched one multi metre superyacht and found they could not start one of the engines, they went to the stern and after much hole searching and wringing of hands, and probably necks, they discovered one of the exhausts had been filled in with bog, whether this was part of an orchestrated attempt by an eco warrior masquerading as one of the fairing gang in order to cut emissions has never been clearly determined,
