im converting to outboards and cut out the shaft logs.what im left with is a 10''x15'' hole.the material is 3/4 of an inch thick.how should i repair this.i was going to use 3 layers inside and fair the depth with kitty hair then grind and use 3 layers on the outside.the patch material is combo cloth (woven roving with matt stitched to it.does this sound ok.and how far from the hole do i have to start the repair

I would probably use some sort of high-density insert (foam or plywood) with multiple layers of biaxial glass inside and out, with epoxy. We have everything you would need at boatbuildercentral.com. If you send us pictures, I can have our boat designer look at it and recommend a lamination schedule. We do this for free when someone buys the supplies from us.
