After getting feedback on various systems, I've settled on a single diesel with a CPP for the Kayak tender. I've done some reading on the theory of CPPs, but what are the realities?
How do the control systems differ from a fixed prop and marine gearbox?
How is engine RPM managed? Do you control it manually? Set it at a constant RPM? Set the pitch and let the engine adjust to the speed needed?
Is the reducing gear built into the CPP system or is a separate reducer required between the engine and drive?
I've seen sites mention a cost of around $2000 - $3000 for a suitable system for a 110-120 HP engine. Does this sound reasonable?
Are there any particular shafting or engine placement requirements?
Thanks
