Push in the right direction

Okay so the situation is this other than simple jonboats i have no real boat building experience. Though the last couple of years I have tossed the idea around and studied what i could here and there now that i have chosen to seriously begin to move on the idea i am left with not knowing which direction to go.
I would personally like to aim at something around the 30 foot mark but i don't know if that would be a wasted attempt for someone with little experience to even think about attempting.

Note that this is purely for my enjoyment including the build as i enjoy building things almost as much as i enjoy being outside. So i intend to take my time to enjoy the build and get it right.

But i don't want to waste my time attempting the immpossible so any suggestions on if something this big would be pheasible for me or any suggestions on what to look at to set my sites on would be a great help and feed back of personal experiences would be cool to

I've been learning that your requirements will dictate what designs are right for you.

What conditions(where) are you looking to use it in?
What is more important comfy dry ride or speed?
How long are you willing to spend on the project?
Do you prefer classic designs or contemporary racey designs?

Wihch type of craft are thinking of? Sailing, Motorboat, speed or cruiser?

I was aiming for sailing with a small onboard motor for those days when the wind just hates us.
Also Comfy and dry would be more my style and the amount of time i'd like something that wouldn't take over 1200 man hours or roughly six-seven months at about 4-6 hours a day.
Also most of the styles i have tended to favor are the classic though the there are some nice modern ones as well something like the bluemoon from another post on here would be really cool

Iain Oughtred's Eun Mara...around 1/2 the length you were looking at but a more realistic build in the time you have stated...They always take longer than you estimate ;)

As already mentioned by Lewis, these figures are not realistic.
Calculate 2 years for a 30ft sailing boat, and call yourself happy when it is 85% finished by then!
