Due to loads at peak times, I'm planning to upgrade the boatdesign.net web server from a P4 1.7 Ghz to a P4 2.8 Ghz HT with 1 GB DDR RAM on Saturday April 17th beginning at 12:00 AM EST (GMT -4)

To facilitate the server switch, unfortunately the server's IP addresses will also be changing at this time.

There will be a short period of downtime on the 17th due to the need to freeze the database while transferring the data. I'll do my best to minimize the downtime so hopefully it will be less than one hour (except for the gallery which may be down for some users for a few hours due to DNS propagation.)

Many thanks in advance for your patience during the transfer.

The forums are now running on the new server, but as work is underway you may experience some sluggishness for the next few hours.

Everything has now been moved, but the new server still needs to be tuned for better performance once we see how it handles the real load.

Some users may experience problems with attachments and uploading to the gallery for the next ~24 hours due to dns caching at their ISP's and thus url's still pointing to the old server until the dns servers refresh.

    Thanks Jeff,

Things are working great here, no bugs that I have noticed. This site has been an incredible resource for me and it just gets better. I also want to thank all the pro designers and builders that put up with us amateurs. All I can say is THANK YOU.
