Hello everybody!

I have a Zodiac inflexible boat. Now, it has come apart in some places, and I want to repair it myself. The problem is that I don't know which kind of glue I should use. Can I use the glue which people use to join PVC water pipe?

Thanks a lot

As long as it's a post 1996 year the zodiac is likely PVC; pre 1996 and it's likely Hypalon like Avon, etc.

I've only repaired one zodiac where the tubes came off from both the transom and started coming off from the floor. I went with the genuine zodiac glue ( Zodiac #7097 Universal "Polymarine" Urethane (PVC) Glue) -- I'm not sure about using generic pvc fabric glue - the boat is worth $1000 so I want the best possible. Preparation is key - cleaning with MEK solvent wash (recommended 3 times before glue application) and have another set or couple sets of hands if possible to align everything perfectly and neatly. If it's a big area that has come apart you need to think about how you will hold/clamp/etc. it in place while it sets during the repair or you'll end up with something not right.

After cleaning/degreasing with paint thinner or gasoline, prime with Sika 206 G+P, let dry for 10 minutes, then use any polyurethane bonding compound like Sikaflex 292/295/296 to repair the separated parts.

The crucial part is using the primer, without that any attempt to repair an old inflatable is bound to fail.

I appreciate J3 a lot for your information. However, I can not buy the glue you mentioned in Vietnam. I will use CDK method.

Thank CDK.

You're welcome Dangtue.
The dingy I once repaired with contact cement ended in the dumpster.
