Hello,

I need help for interpreting the calculation of SM floor with
ABS ORY rules.

If I see the figure 8-2 and assume that the length of transverse frame is greater of the length of the floor, is this equation correct ?

SM floor = 2.2 * SM tranv. frame * (Pb/Ps)

with Pb the design pressure for middle of floor et Ps the design pressure for middle of tranverse frame.

Thank you by advance.

Did you try looking at principles of yacht design? they do some example calculations with ABSORY .

What's your material ?

Hello Mike,

I had read the book of Larsson and Eliasson, but it seems that the exemple of calculation for floor concern the method ISO :

SM floor = (83.33 b lČ P)/stress + SMk

In ABS ORY rule, the formula is :

SM floor = (183 b lČ P)/stress + SMk (183/83.25 = 2.2)

I had think that the ABS formula cover also the load induced by grounding, but maybe It is for an other reason ?

Grounding will be built into keel supporting floors.
Isnt the floor Z calculated by CxHxSxLxL/stress or similar ? Are you building in wood-epoxy ?
