First in what? First to go bankrupt or first to be outlawed for too high pollution?

I must confess Mohamed, I have not even heard of them. And I doubt that brand will make a big impact on the market. Where are they from? China?

no sir,
those are from Korea and their name was daewoo and transferred to DOOSAN the design is likely to MAN diesel engines and in my country there are many people use MAN spare parts instead of DOOSAN one
very happy for the first discussion in your respective forum

So it is a Korean made Mercedes? I suppose if the parts are interchangeable the tolerances must be pretty close. What engine did they copy? I assume you meant MANN

No Gonzo, there is no company MANN producing Diesel engines! He meant M A N that is Maschinenfabrik Augsburg Nürnberg, the largest Marine Diesel manufacturer worldwide.
And MAN has for sure not given any permission to copy their engines. Daewoo though has the right (as many other shipbuilders worldwide) to assemble MAN engines and to cast heavier parts at their production facilities!
Hence there was no possible way to transport heavy ship engines around the world (no such cranes did exist), this was the first "globalized" market in modern terms. All the big manufacturers like Sulzer (now Wärtsilä), B&W (now MAN) permitted the production of their engines (or at least the heaviest cast parts) at the shipyards worldwide. That still is common practice since almost 100 years now.

Mohamed, I had a look at their website and they are still just a contractor (assembler/co -manufacturer) of MAN engines. Did´nt notice they bought Daewoo 4 years ago.
