I just look a bit at powerboats. limited to displacement speed. but on the light side.

Is there book covering such things like structure, engine stuff (exhaust, venting, cooling etc ...), liveability (venting, heating, noise insulation, water plumbing ...).

ie all the stuff needed to build a boat, EXCEPT the hull design.


I am up to the point to think that the hull/deck is the cheapest part of the boat.
A marine engine + accessories like a prop and shaft, and interior equipement (fridge, galley, toilets ...) is much more expensive than african mahogany + marine plywood to build the hull & deck. And electricity, heating, venting, all the water plumbing (fresh, hot, grey, black) will consume really more building time than hull planking.

And the hull form is slightest problem among rotten stringers in the bilge due to defective ventilation, exhaust cooking some parts of the hull or a black water plumbing stinking.
