FOR THIS TYPE OF PROJECT CHECK OUT DEFENDER WEBSITE. I SUGGEST YOU REVIEW SPECS FOR VECTRA CLOTH INSTEAD OF FIBERGLASS CLOTH. VECTRA IS MUCH STRONGER AND COST LESS, ALSO YOU COULD USE XPS STYRO FOAM IN HIGH DENSITY. YOU WILL NEED EPOXY , SOLVENTS WILL DAMAGE THE FOAM. EUROPE HAS STRY0 FOR ROOFS THAT WILL WORK GREAT IN THIN SHEETS FOR YOUR PROJECT. KBOAT

Thanks kboat, I thought that XPS styrofoam was only used for insulation purposes, i am looking for in the net the specs but i can't get the shear strenght... and if the foam is certified for some Classification Society (LR,DNV,BV...)...
Related to the Vectran cloth as far as i know these fibers are used for the sails or ropes...
Do you know any web where i could obtain more info?
Thanks in advance.

Hello Danielro,
I'm actually building my own 40' sailboat with two other guys doing the same. So three boats alltogether. So it's quiet a lot of material. I'm using epoxy resin, Airex R63.80 for hull and deck, Airex C70 for roof and cockpit, and fiberglass. You can buy all of those products at Sicomin/France(Marseille) (look at http://www.sicomin.com). We have had a really good price because of the quantity, it can be different depending of every case ... but ask them. I know nothing about boatbuilding in Spain, but in France (and also in Switzerland) they have an amateur boatbuilding community (called Unité Amateur) where members can group their orders and obtain really interesting prices ! (http://fiua.free.fr) ...
I'm working on a new website (http://www.suhail.ch) on which I will publish quiet a l ot of links related to boatbuilding ... please be patient !
Hope this help
David

Suhail, thanks, i will try with Sicomin. I think that in Spain there isn't an amateur boatbuilding association or community. i will contact with FIUA for information.
You Web site is very nice... images and links..
