I am considering a location for a bildge section to house a through hull ( raw water pick up and a few pumps, Live well, washdown etc. It is my desire to arrange this well as water tight and to the underside of the deck as possible so if the through hull would fail the well would fill tp the waterline and no more, Has anyone seen this and may have a picture/ drawing, Thanks

Bearing in mind that getting to the valve and connections is more important than planning on their failure...yes, sort of. Make a "pump-room" -big enough to get into and do maintainance but not big enough to take the boat down with a catastrophic failure. I like a steering-gear space small enough to not get too heavy with a dropped rudderpost, as well - not that I've ever dropped a rudderpost - I just feel better. I know where you're going with this and applaud you for wanting to take good care of yourself and yourn.

the boats are open 23' center console used in open water, I like the idea of contianing the effects of a failure with also in mind the need to have room to repair and access this equip. in an emergency, ex I did a boat with a raised aft casting deck the bildge pump was mounted to a solid alum bar the fasteners were an easy reach from the deck so the pump could be serviced
