apex1, I get that kind of rubbish quite regularly, The police don't want to know... They are getting quite good at presenting themselves as the bank or whatever - Just know who you have credit with and establish a system for them to send advice on such issues, then delete all others or post them saying something like "pity I cannot get access to their bank accounts - should have quite a bit from previous suckers/victims."....

Sadly an all too frequent hazard in this world...

As a general rule banks and/or other payment agencies never use e-mail messages with links for this kind of communications.

If it was the message from you bank or from a real Pay-Pal, it would read something like: "please visit the PayPal site and login", with no links included.
It's up to you to digit the correct address in your browser and then to login at the site you know.

So when you receive a message containing a link, it is 99% a phishing attack aimed at stealing your password.

In most cases they know who it is, but just do nothing about it.

Paypal phishing is a pain, but one category of this is wildly entertaining.

I have a mail filter that looks for any connection at all with Nigeria. Those go into a special folder. I read all of them, look for sentences without grammar errors, and try to lump them together by author by "writing style."

More fun than a crossword puzzle.

also checking the remove me from this list box and replying only lets them know yours is a real email addy, so you go to the top of the list as a live one

Mas
I meant report to your mail system! The police is only good for the textile industry! They have so many different uniforms.

The only reports I have ever filed were to the company being scammed. Many sites have phishing report pages, where you paste in the email header and content. If anyone actually cares, it is the company being scammed.
