Try Metalix cncKad (http://metalix-cad-cam.com/products.php?cat=9&id=16). It can work as add-in for SolidWorks...

I am using Alma act/cut for years. It imports dxf, step, iges etc. Fully autonesting, preparing nc code and reports. Direct link to Catia, SolidEdge, Siemens NX.

Hello all,

Don't know about free software but I can comment on what we use.

For years we used Sigma but now we use Lantek.
Lantek is very good and a lot cheaper than Sigma for us.
Lantek has add - on packages for the professional so it keeps the cost down for the specialised or home user. You only pay for what you need.

Paul.

I just found something called Mynesting (http://www.mynesting.com/GetStarted.aspx). The program is free, and you pay for each nest job you download, regardless of how many sheets are in the job.

I realize the draw of using a free nesting software (it's free! we all want something for free) but what you don't pay for in $$ is exactly what ends up costing you in quality. I've tried the mynesting software, but it's quality pales in comparison to that of SigmaNEST V9. Sure you might spend a little bit more, but what you get back out of it is totally worth it. Try a free demo at: http://www.sigmanest.com/en-us/Company/Contact/profileform.aspx and then see how you feel about any of those other Free Nesting softwares out there.

The free demo of SigmaNEST sounds good, but after the free demo is over the cost to buy the software is not just "a bit more" but more like $5000-$25000. (http://autodeskcatalog.com/2010/12/16/sigmanest-software/) This price puts it far out of range for either the casual or low volume user.

I like to recommend NestProfessor if you are looking for a nesting software, we use it for Plasma cutting and Trumpf punch machine , it is really good for us.

you can visit their website www.nestprofessor.com (http://www.nestprofessor.com) to download a trial version.
