Guys
Can you have forepeak in a 75m ahts that has the anchor windlass electric motor and pump in it and have NO fire detection or fighting equipment?
Thanks:(

Ahhh..doh!...thanks Apex :)

Well, depends on the hull material, one assumes steel. Also depends upon the Flag authority the boat is being designed too, and also whether local reg's are applicable too. However, all you 'should' need is just ventilation from the void, providing that there is no other source of ignition, such as oil, or flammable linings etc.

But, as noted if the local reg's of Flag state view the anchor eqpt as "safety" (it may then fall into another catagory) then it may require some discussions with the Flag state for clarification and/or dispensation. Also if there is any redundancy too, will affect the Flag state's views.

I would call an electric motor driving a hydraulic pump an ignition source.
The oil reservoir is in there as well.

The power, ie in kW...since the size (in kW) dictates how the 'void' it is classified.

The max limit is 110kW. So you're ok...it is classed as an aux m/c space.
