i beleive you may have the term wrong sir the spur latch is an electrical component that is used for latching the chassiy or drive in place that to me is a mechineist job any other trick questions you may have and if you were to look it up you will find what i say to be true

no sir i dont but on large vessels such cargo and ro ro that is what it is perhaps you can inlightn me on small vessels outside of my fathers fishing boat and a friends angler i have no experience of small crafts

Actually Shug it tends to be the bigger the boat the bigger the spur latch. Now that must be a clue .

perhaps it should yet it doesnt ring a bell although when i think of latchs on large vessels i think of embarktion decks and cargo holds and the deck latches they have :confused:

An anchor winch braking mechanism; the latch is applied to the spur gear(s) to prevent movement of drum. Often, the latch is applied by a crank wheel.
That's my guess.

Cripes this an interesting thread , would some one tell him what a fking spur latch if for fks sake.

Its not the thing what jams the windlass thats a paul.

What might help, is to spell it and pronounce it the same way each time it is mentioned ,--is it a spurlatch or a spur latch ?

Oh by the way is that a woman or a man in those boots, I already know the answer.

Is it Nancy or is it Frank?
