The reason why I have no reason to go for a swim or fish in the Amazon, but you fishermen out there can book a flight as soon as you are ready.

I don't think that is a piranha. If I was in the water the name wouldn't be my first concern though

You are right, that is no Piranha. But I love your second statement.

In the back of my memory I did not think this was Pirahhna either, but that's just the way it arrived to my email, and I did not check it thoroughly. Wonder who might identify it correctly??

...Not for waders

Agree to the statement that if I were swimming in the same water as one of these, the name would only be a theoretical problem, to be solved later....

As a hobby Darwinist I'd feel it safe to assume that those tetths are unpractical for digging about in the mud on the seabed for food, also unpractical for eating grass, so the food may be some other source.....:p

A flock of these might actually ruin the day, and may be also cause some unpleasant shuffeling around a bit on the food chain...

I spent part of my honeymoon on the amazon and actually caught a piranha, maybe 4 inches in length?

If I'd seen that big bugger, it might have been a short lived marriage.....

Remind me of a story.....
something like this:

A fellow was walking, walking on a beach shore, He knew it would be a long walk, miles to go etc...
He came to a wide river outlet, was depressed about the thought of going up, far inland to find a bridge to cross it, but there was this bloke on the other side, working on a boat.
He yelled to get his attention. Got the attention.
Ha shouted; "Are there any crocodilles here in this river?"
The fellow on the other side shouted back: "No, no corcs in this river mate!", before turning his attention back to the boat.
The fellow then took off his clothes tied ontop of his head, started swimming towards the other side, about halfway, he suddenly saw this follow, working on the boat jerked his head up, started to look around, spotted this other fellow, swimming.... yelled:
"The sharks! The sharks are eatin' them crocodilles!!!"
