A friend of mine has designed a lifeboat/dinghy - The Portland Pudgy. He showed the prototype at the Maine Boatbuilder's Show last March and now the boat has gone into production. He's bringing one down to Florida for the Strictly Sail show in Miami in February.

The Pudgy is roto-molded poly with a double hull with closed cell foam in the bottom. There are watertight compartments in the hull sides that hold the exposure canopy and sail rig, sea anchor, etc. She tows well and sails well.

Their new website is www.portlandpudgy.com - have a look!

Dave, Go to the Portland Pudgy site and email your question to Dave. The Pudgy is his baby, not mine. :)

Dave,
Here is one source I found for foam. They seem to have good prices.

http://www.uscomposites.com/foam.html

I am not affiliated with them in any way.
