i have a 1956, 5hp goodyear superbee, I can't get running I have blisters from pulling the cord, I'm afraid to pull it too much it has a leather pull cord with wire in it,
it did run , but I haven't used it in about 5 yrs, I layed it up for storage, drained all gas and it's not siezed up, I installed a new plug too.

I'm so confused, any thoughts?

There's only a few reasons an engine will not start. Replacing parts before you know what's wrong usually is a difficult method to get it going again.

Check to see if you're getting a fat spark. If so, then it's a fuel delivery issue, which is very common on a laid up engine. If you have a weak or no spark situation then the ignition system needs addressing. These are the first checks a mechanic will make.
