Hi,
I am trying to find information on a 2006 350 Vortec FI 315 HP - performance specs, good and bad points of the engine etc. It is in a boat I am looking at so any information would be greatly appreciated. I tried googling but came up empty.
Thank you for your help.

This site will give you engine details on the 5.7 GM sell thousands of these blocks to marine engine builders so the basic blocks of the 5.7 are almost completely alike. http://www.gm.com/experience/technology/gmpowertrain/engines/specialized/marine/marine_engines.jsp The 5.7 is a strong engine and been around for decades. Nothing complicated about it and parts and service can be found most anywhere
The latest generation of "small block" Chevy 350 is one of a long line of small blocks, dating from the early 1950's. The 350 appeared in the late 60's as the first major revision to the small block, with smaller main journals, stronger internal webbing and an asymmetric flange crank. The 2006 Vortec 5.7 is one of the latest in the series, having engineered out many issues found over the decades since it's origination, including a pesky leaking rear main seal, that all early small block lover's have contended with.
The engine as a whole is very sound, solidly built, with millions of them world wide. It's one of the most readily available engines and parts are less costly and plentiful then other engines as a result.
As with any engine, it has "quirks", but nothing that can't be handled through reasonable care and a regular maintenance routine.
