I have a gallon of 2 pot euorthane and have lost the hardener. I am told I can't buy some without a new gallon of paint,--its not cheap.

I have tried epoxy hardener and some Jotun hardener without success,

Its Joton Futura AS--white, Does any one know a way to get it to go off so as I can use it?

I am just testing polyester resin hardener in the sun at the moment but not looking good.

Im only painting the dinghy!!

vinigar , bleach, hair shampoo, cellulose thinner,???????

The hardeners for polyurethane contain isocyanates, just like superglue.
Loctite Hysol and Loctite 3183 are commercially available hardeners.

You could try a few drops of superglue, but then you probably have to paint very fast!

Hmmm interesting,---how fast will I have to paint?

A few drops of super glue to how much paint?

Frosty, I have no idea. But when faced with your problem, I would do a small scale experiment. Using the paint without hardener leads nowhere: I did that once because the tin with the hardener got displaced and the paint tin carried texts in funny languages only, so I thought it was single component paint.
Because it was still wet after a week I started searching and found the hardener. But spraying it over the paint didn't help anymore....

I understand exactly what you are saying.

Ive done that many times myself. Anyway I tried a single drop into a half a teaspoon bit of paint but after 5 hours its still soft.

Hopefully in the morning its cured or ille try more super glue.

I just did a little research on Google. Wasn't able to find any listing of any specific chemical(s) that will cause it to harden. I DID, however, find information about using different "reducers" to alter the gel time, maybe you could use a slightly "faster" reducer & get a decent set w/o part 2?
