I have run into a similar problem with the SEA222 SSB radio. There is no tech support left and the only manually I can download is 3 pages. My machime goes into unlock mode and will not transmit. A read a thread were Fairbank56 may have an answer.
Thanks
Bill

It means the phased locked loops circuits are out of lock. The radio needs servicing.

Eric....you've stirred my curiosity. What do I need to get this radio going? I am in Garibaldi, Oregon. I understand the company is out of business. I was able to locate another non working SEA222 for parts.
Thanks

Your going to have to find an experienced electronics technician who actually knows how to troubleshoot (few and far between these days) and who has a service manual. It might be that all it needs is an adjustment to one of the VCO's but it could be any number of things. I maintain the marine electronics equipment on the Naval Academy's fleet of training vessels and we have over 20 SEA 222's on their sailboats that Iv'e kept going for over 20 years, but I don't normally do "side work". If you run out of options and really want it repaired, you could ship it to me and I would fix it for return shipping cost and whatever you'd like to add to that.

Saw your post over on QRZ Bill. Hope SEA can help you out. SEA is a subsidiary of Datamarine International. I don't know if they still support the 222. I haven't needed a specialized part from them for years other than a keyboard which they could not provide. I ended up adapting an aftermarket generic keyboard.
Good luck,

Just a shot in the dark:
most truck stops have experienced radio (cb) technicians on site.
I used to work in the electronic repair business and am trying to repair a Sea 222 for a friend. It had an interesting failure. The flex cable from the keypad burned out. (melted) The pad itself is damaged. I connected a new pad but the uprocessor (MC146805E2P) appears to be damaged. It only responds to some keys. I looked on the internet but it seems they are avaiable only in large quantities. Any idea where I could get one. SidK
