Bell Hsg Removal 2003 Merc XR Drive With ITS

Does anyone know the secret to remove the quarter inch bolts that retain the hinge pins on the bell hsg to the gimbel ring. I have tried heat, slowly loosening and tightening and still have broken bolts. Has anyone rotated the hinge pin and redrilled the four holes and retapped instead of trying to removed the broken off loctited bolts on the gimbel ring? Would this seriously reduce the strength of the gimbel ring

As far as I understand these bellhousings Dave - Your only option is to
drill holes into the bellhousing.
This is a factory recommended procedure.
