Well, the Australians have definitely thrown their hat in the ring as a serious contender for getting to 50 knots (and beyond?) with the most recent run of SAILROCKET on Walvis Bay, Namibia.

Yes, Paul Larsen is an aussie but although the aussies will gladly take the kudos for this amazing craft, I thought it was mostly an effort from the UK. I could be wrong of course.

Care not of the nationality, Melbourne Cup is run and done - - so maybe they did not have the right winds... It is a magnificent challenge and a very sexy craft to be using to push the limits....

Of course, there will be all sorts of things to look at now by WSSRC and it's quite likely that the number will be adjusted, but for right now, it looks interesting.

Congratulations to the sailrocket team for the new record-hope it gets ratified.The peak speed was over 50 knots before the horrific crash-glad Paul wasn't hurt!

Very courageous and fortunate adds new meaning to "He was flying", on the question of how fast....? Good to see the limits being pushed I would prefer to see video of a successful run with a) MAX SPEED and b) 1 nautical mile record with sound as I bet everything literally HUMMED....

Fantastic effort and all praise due and deserved.....
