Dear all,
Happy New Year to you and belated season's greetings!
For those of you who continue to take an interest in the Derbyshire tragedy and the causes of her loss, an article that examines the adequacy and strength of the main hatch covers and whether they complied with the standards of the day has recently been published on the undernoted website:

Gadfly as an ex Merchant Naval Officer serving at the time of the disaster, please for the sake of the relatives and all others let them be, its been thrown around long enough. Let the poor devils rest, they deserve it!

Safewalrus,
We believe that it is in the interests of all future 'relatives' and professional seafarers, as well as in the interests of the general public, that the truth in this matter should prevail.
We shall continue our disclosures on the Gaul and Derbyshire tragedies until the facts are officially acknowledged and the shoddy practices of government curtailed.
To do otherwise would be an insult to the memory of those lost.
Sometimes it is, perhaps, better to let bygones be bygones, but not in these cases, and not when they impact the future.
